SMEs avoiding VoIP
Reported on Tue, 01 Aug 2006
Small business owners considering a business loan may be interested to note that small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Ireland are being slow to invest in VoIP, despite its proven cost-effectiveness, according to new research.
A recent survey from the Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) revealed that over 50 per cent of SMEs hadn't heard of VoIP and only three per cent were reaping the benefits of the new technology.
Paddy Cotter, sales manager of DCM Group, told technology website, siliconrepublic: "Initial customer feedback suggests that we have hit a nerve in the Irish marketplace."
"VoIP services are at prices that will simply be too low for SMEs to disregard," he added.
Recent research from Lloyds TSB found that a high proportion of SMEs fail to take advantage of the IT on offer to them and thus miss out on money saving opportunities.
