Business loan for rising utility costs
Reported on Thu, 27 Jul 2006
Self-employed tradesmen in the UK may suffer financially as the price of fuel continues to increase.
British Gas announced price hikes for both gas and electricity customers, as it struggles to cope with the rising costs of wholesale gas.
The 10.7 million British Gas customers across the UK will face a 9.4 per cent rise in electricity rates and a 12.4 per cent boost in gas bills.
People who rely on gas for their business, such as Bed & Breakfast owners or other companies who use gas as part of their food service could lose out financially.
Consumers could also face higher oil prices in the future, as world prices for crude oil rose to $78 a barrel.
This means that self-employed tradesmen who use vans or lorries could suffer financially as they face higher prices for petrol.
