Business loan for employee dental plan and increased productivity
Reported on Tue, 25 Jul 2006
Companies are not providing employees with help towards funding dental care, according to new research, but a business loan could help small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to cover the cost of developing a dental care scheme.
Almost 60 per cent of firms believe that their employees would benefit from dental benefits, according to research from HSA.
O those employers who do provide dental benefits, 71 per cent did so to 'promote employee wellbeing'.
Suzanne Clarkson, head of corporate marketing at HSA, said: "By allowing employees to visit the dentist based on need rather than on affordability, it may help towards the prevention of serious conditions."
She went on to say that private dental appointments can be more flexible around work hours ? limiting the amount of time employees take off work.
Recent research from Datamonitor found that employee absenteeism for healthcare treatments, dental pain and check-ups costs £754 million and 12 million working days a year.
Taking out a business loan could provide SMEs with the extra money needed to start-up a health care benefit scheme for their staff and provide those who have lost out due to employee absenteeism with financial stability.
