Business loan to aid energy efficiency
Reported on Fri, 16 Jun 2006
British companies are in danger of losing out through inadequate energy efficiency measures, claims a report released yesterday, with a business loan providing a feasible remedy for a firm wanting to get new systems installed.
A study by government-funded green energy promoter the Carbon Trust claims that inadequate energy efficiency measures mean businesses of all sizes are wasting up to 15 per cent of their total energy spend over the summer months.
The organisation claims that total wasted costs are running up to £570 million and it has announced a £4 million television and newspaper advertising campaign to flag up the cause of energy efficiency among businesses and public sector organisations.
"British businesses are wasting millions on energy, hitting the environment and their own bottom line," claimed Tom Delay, chief executive of the Carbon Trust.
He added: "The sheer scale of the energy wasted is staggering and something businesses can no longer afford to ignore," when "energy saving today is a no-brainer for business and the environment".
Taking out a business loan could enable companies to revamp their office infrastructure and introduce new energy efficient procedures that would ultimately reduce costs over the long-term.
