Healthy returns continue in commercial mortgage market
Reported on Thu, 06 Apr 2006
Investors taking out commercial mortgages are continuing to experience healthy returns in their commercial property investments, claims a new survey.
Research by Rics, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, found that private investors made profits of 20 per cent for the second consecutive year during 2005.
Analysts from the construction organisation are predicting a rosy future for commercial property and commercial mortgages.
Oliver Gilmartin, economist at Rics, praised the "stellar performance" of commercial mortgages during the last three years and revealed that overseas investors were being especially attracted to the UK's commercial property scene.
"The doors to commercial property are opening up to a much wider audience and individuals are beginning to appreciate that this kind of investment can generate income whist exposing them to comparatively reduced risk," he said.
Investors wishing to move into the commercial property market or expand their existing portfolios could take out a commercial mortgage.
