Business loan for green strategy
Reported on Mon, 03 Apr 2006
Adopting an environmentally-conscious approach would help a firm win greater confidence from its employees, a new study shows, and taking out a business loan could help to put the necessary measures in place.
A new poll by the Carbon Trust found that more than three quarters of UK employees would prefer to work for a company that actively engages with the need to reduce carbon emissions.
The research also reveals that one in four workers do not feel their company is making sufficient strides in this direction at present, with less than a fifth of respondents saying they get any guidance from their bosses on how to become greener.
"The majority of UK employees want to become more environmentally friendly at work, but many don't know where to start," said Dr Garry Felgate, director of business relations at the Carbon Trust.
"It's in a company's best interest to help them, as adopting simple energy efficiency measures could save up to ten per cent on energy bills."
Taking out a low-rate business loan could give companies the chance to research and implement new energy-efficient systems for the benefit of the workplace.
