Business loan for new broadband services
Reported on Fri, 31 Mar 2006
The most successful companies of the next decade will be those that take up voice over internet protocol (VoIP) services, claims an industry insider, and a business loan could help firms make this essential step forward.
Speaking at a workshop for companies in Birmingham, Terry Pentland of the Internet Centre said the rapid growth of broadband services "particularly in the business sector", has provided the essential "infrastructure that VoIP needs to really take off".
This could spell trouble for those firms still using standard mobile and fixed line technology, an industry that is likely to suffer in the face of the sweeping innovations.
Mr Pentland described the coming developments as "the second major revolution in communications", comparable to the integration of websites and email communications over the last decade.
Industry experts have predicted that greater VoIP competition will result in higher quality services at a lower cost than the market currently offers, with telephony and computing services beginning to merge into one.
Businesses wanting to stay ahead of the game can expand into VoIP services using a business loan.
