Many small hotels and bed and breakfasts are being hit heavily by damage caused by guests and items being removed from rooms.

Research by More Than Business revealed that in the last five years 336,000 hotel beds have been broken by guests, 672,000 electrical items such as kettles and hairdryers have been broken or damaged and 336,000 TV sets have stopped working because of damage.

In addition, over 80 per cent of people who have stayed in a hotel in the last five years believe it is acceptable to take small items including stationery, toiletries and towels from hotel rooms.

In fact, about £5 million worth of stolen bathrobes have been taken by UK guests since 2000.

Rachel Cotton, small business manager at More Than, said: "This research points at a serious issue for small hotel owners and managers up and down the country.

"Even a limited amount of damage can have considerable consequences for a small hotel or guest house, either in the shape of business disruption or added stress and time constraints."

A small business loan or a bed and breakfast loan will help your business to recover from damage suffered.

For example, a small business loan would enable you to buy items in bulk so that things can be easily replaced if they are broken or taken from a hotel room.
