Small business loan to help with IT decisions
Reported on Tue, 24 Jan 2006
More than one in ten small businesses are making uninformed IT decisions, claims a new study.
According to research by Cisco Systems, 13 per cent of small companies do not look into the IT market in detail or seek advice when deciding what IT products and services they should purchase, instead relying on a "gut feeling".
This is particularly the case with start-up businesses as 21 per cent make IT decisions based purely on instinct.
"Start-up businesses must do more with less and simply cannot afford to make ill-considered judgements around IT," said Bernadette Wightman of Cisco Systems UK.
A sizable number of small businesses, 41 per cent, believe they are hampered because most IT technology is imposed on them, as the products and systems are only designed for larger companies.
In addition, a fifth of small firms said they do not have the resources to employ an IT expert until they employ 75 members of staff.
A small business loan could help many businesses to make solid IT decisions. Getting a small business loan could, for example, enable a company to consult an IT expert or undertake detailed research into the IT sector.
