Business loan for pub refurbishment
Reported on Wed, 18 Jan 2006
Pub owners are being urged to take out business loans to pay for refurbishing their establishments.
The call follows reports of one of many success stories about publicans enjoying significant upturns in business after renovating their pubs.
The Cock at Hemingford Grey in Cambridge was completely redecorated, complete with new furniture, lighting, flooring and toilets, and the owner has revealed the refurbishment has had the desired effect because business is now booming.
Oliver Thain also invested in an outside shelter for smokers who had previously been forced to smoke outside following recent legislation banning smoking in public places.
Mr Thain said: "I think a lot of people are put off going into pubs because of the smoke and I think it will attract a lot more women."
He also revealed that his pub has won awards for its design and decor since the refurbishment programme was completed.
People wishing to emulate the achievements of successful pubs should consider the benefits of taking out a business loan, which can entirely fund refurbishment plans.
